The Motor vehicles remains the major source of the following air pollutants affecting the health of populations: suspended particulate matter which contains lead, carbon monoxide, nitrogen monoxide which is oxidated to nitrogen dioxide, and photo chemically reactive hydrocarbons which react with nitrogen oxides to form ozone. Though the transport sector contributes in average about 42 % of air pollution in Dubai, and the carbon dioxide emission per vehicle varies from 110 to 250 g/km, as revealed in press by Dubai Municipality in 2011 -2012.
From the total air pollution, over 82% comes from car petrol emissions alone. This is in addition to the tens of thousands of other vehicles that enter the city from other emirates.
Apart from the above statistics; having too many cars is a bad habit in a typical UAE home.
